When it comes to a nascent industry, it can be difficult to find companies that meet all the criteria we identified in the Investment Philosophy. Many times, in early stage industries, there are no clear leaders and the mortality rate of companies is high. For example, we fully expect that many of the current players in the renewable energy industry will not be around in another 5 years.

At this stage of the industry, we believe that improving margin of safety would require investing in a basket of companies instead of any single company.
